Heroes at Home Helping Veterans and Military Families

Heroes at Home‘ is a collaborative effort between Rebuilding Together, a nonprofit, and Sears launched in May of 2007. The mission of Heroes at Home is to better the lives of low-income U.S. service members, veterans, and military families in need across America by making needed repairs, improvements, and modifications to their homes.

The donations for Heroes at Home are collected by Sears and Kmart through in-store fundraising campaigns. These in-store campaigns have already generated nearly $4 million in donations. As more donations are collected, the number of Heroes at Home projects will also increase helping even more vets in need.

You can support the Heroes at Home campaign by clicking on the Donate Now button below. Or, you can text a donation of $5 by texting the word “heroes” to 20222, supported by Mobile Giving.

Here’s one heartwarming example of the good they are doing with the help of Sears and KMart:

Sgt. Ryan C. Major was critically injured while serving in Iraq when an IED exploded near him resulting in the loss of both legs. With the help of the Heroes at Home program, Sgt. Major is now able to recover at home with his family. Heroes at Home provide him with a new accessible bedroom, bathroom and installed an elevator.
